Restaurant Review:
Urban Seafood

Urban Seafood, another resident of The Beach at JBR, is just like its name suggests; a contemporary seafood concept that offers a diversity of seafood delicacies that are fresh and inventive in their presentations and preparations. You are spoilt for choice with a menu that includes lobsters, calamari, shrimps, mussels and more that are presented in unique rolls, sliders and sandwiches and would appeal to both the seafood lover and someone not a hardcore fan.

Here is everything we had at our tasting:

  • Prawn Kunafa: Crispy Wrapped Prawns With Kunafa Strips, Served With Sweet Chili Sauce
  • Crispy Fried Calamari: Freshly Sliced Crispy Calamari Rings On A Bed Of Old Bay Chips
  • Lobster Grilled Cheese: Chopped Maine Lobster, Shrimps, Tomato, Jack Cheese, Awesome Sauce And Sourdough Bread
  • Dynamite Shrimp Sliders: Spicy Shrimp Sliders With Sriracha Slaw Salad And Tomato

So, we have previously sampled Urban seafood, prior to its rebranding and at its original location in the Ibn Battuta Mall and there were a few favorites we had off the old menu. As we sat down on the swinging benches in the restaurant (there are normal chairs too but we enjoyed sitting on these) at The Beach and looked over the menu, we noticed that the menu too had gone through major changes but luckily we managed to spot one of our favorites off the old one – The lobster grilled cheese. We happily noted that this one too retained the awesomeness of the other one that had swiftly become one of our favorite seafood sandwiches! Deliciously cooked pieces of shrimp and lobster blend with generous helpings of cheese, making for a brilliant twist on the classic grilled cheese. Definitely a must have! The Calamari were tasty and the Kunafa prawns decent, although we have had better. The Dynamite Shrimp sliders were quite appetizing and gave off a burst of flavor with every bite. Word of caution, these are slightly on the spicy side so order them only if you have a good tolerance level for spices. We paired the food with some fresh juices.

  • Sundae Brownie

Loved the dessert! The ice cream, a particular brand that they used, was a pleasant surprise and drizzled generously with salted caramel, this made for a perfect treat and was worth every last calorie!

There’s a lot to try at Urban Seafood and we give our experience at the new branch a Yay, especially since it still features one of our old favorites on its new menu!
