Restaurant Review:
Cocoa Room

Galleria Mall, Al Wasl Road, Dubai

So the first time we ate at the Cocoa Room was during Eid 2015 and the first thought to cross our minds was, “Is this place awesome or is it awesome!” Nestled within Slider Station at Galleria Mall Jumeirah, this delightful joint that operates from 8 am to 12 pm is a must visit for breakfast and we’ve been back for more and more ever since our first time at the restaurant! Here is everything we’ve consumed on our multiple visits to this cheerful and very lively restaurant:

  • Green Apple juice
  • Salted Caramel and Burnt Marshmallow Hot Chocolate

How divine does the hot chocolate sound? It looked great too and tasted even better. Weekends call for indulgent breakfasts and when at Cocoa Room, this drink has to be part of that extravagance!

  • Turkish Eggs: Poached eggs with Garlic Labneh, chili oil and sourdough bread slices

  • Eggs Menemen: Turkish style scrambled eggs, red chili flakes, feta, red bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and pita

  • Mexican Ranchero Benedict: Rustic bread, refried beans, red chili hollandaise sauce, Mexican herbs and pumpkin seeds

  • Burrito Del Sol (without beef): Scrambled eggs, cheddar and jack cheese, scallions, jalapeno sour cream and refried beans

  • Eggs your way: Basically they create an omelet with your choice of preparation, condiments and bread.

We had heard a lot of good things about the Turkish eggs and can safely say that they turned out even more delicious than what we'd expected. Our well done poached eggs arrived in an opulent serving of the tastiest and creamiest labneh we’ve had that just left us wanting more and more of it. Even just writing about it gets us drooling. While the other items we’ve eaten are always spot on when it comes to taste, they end up being completely trumped by the Turkish eggs which is something we cannot do without on every visit. We have tried Turkish eggs at a few other restaurants but none come close to what they serve at the Cocoa Room.

  • Red Velvet (cheese frosting and almond crumble)
  • Biscoff
  • Oreo Midnight
  • Raspberry & White Chocolate
  • Nutella French Toast

What’s breakfast without some dessert, oh sorry I mean pancakes and French toast? Don’t get fooled though, while the stacks of pancakes appear small, they sure do pack a huge punch and are very filling. Out of the four different ones we’ve had, we loved the Biscoff (all the rage these days), followed by the Oreo Midnight and Red Velvet versions. With regard to the Raspberry and white chocolate variant, we stepped out of our dessert comfort zone with this one and honestly weren’t too happy with it. While appetizing, it fell short in creaminess and was more basic pancake, less flavor. More dollops of cream would help.

Now for the dessert that absolutely won our hearts, the crème de la crème; NUTELLA FRENCH TOAST DOUSED WITH MAPLE TOFFEE SYRUP AND ICE CREAM. This beautiful block of deliciousness takes French toast to another level. As you proceed to break through it with your cutlery, the most pristine cascade of Nutella oozes out and it is truly a celebration of rich, enchanting flavors in your mouth.

CRDXB is a breakfast place that is worth EVERY LAST CALORIE and one that we will happily sacrifice sleeping in for.
Word of advice: Get to the restaurant early on weekends in order to avoid having to wait for a table.
