Restaurant Review:

Festival City, Dubai

We’ve constantly maintained that there’s nothing more satisfying than a plump, tasty burger. And if you know what you’re eating is healthy to boot, what more can one ask for? Bareburger, a New York based organic burger chain that has restaurants across the US and in Toronto, Tokyo and Frankfurt too, has opened its first one in the UAE at the Dubai Festival City. The colorful walls of the restaurant are adorned with florid papier mâché bear heads and farcical photos of animals among other funky decorations. There are comfortable booths for bigger groups and more informal chairs and tables for others.
Here is everything we had at our recent tasting:

  • Vanilla Shake With Caramel And A Double Chocolate Cookie
  • Passion Fruit Mojito: Passion Fruit, Mint, Lime, Lemon Soda

There are only very few places where we swear by the milkshakes and we are adding Bareburger to the list! The milkshake was a party of flavors in our mouths. The passion fruit mojito was a decent drink too but the milkshake was the winner of this lot.

  • Macho Fries: Guacamole, Spicy Pico De Gallo, Gouda, Pickled Jalapenos, Buttermilk Ranch And Fries
  • Onion Rings With Parika Mayo, Smoke Sauce (We Were Also Served The Curry Ginger Ketchup And Habanero Mayo To Get A Taste Of The Two Sauces)

Good on the Gouda along with the rest of the toppings for making the fries even tastier! The onion rings, larger than what we have usually and a generous quantity too were tasty. Although it doesn’t come with these appetizers, make sure you ask for the curry ginger ketchup; different and delicious!

  • Buttermilk Buffalo: Buffalo Fried Chicken, Bleu, Green Leaf, Buttermilk Ranch, Buffalo Sauce And A Brioche Bun
  • Lamb Sliders: Lamb, Feta, Green Leaf, Piquante Relish, Labneh With Mint
  • Be My Burger (A Burger Created By Us): Grilled Lemon Chicken, Multi-Grain Bun, Aged Cheddar And Gouda, Duck Bacon, Kale, Special Sauce And Hummus

Now for the burgers! The lamb sliders with their Mediterranean zests and medium well done Lamb patties were juicy delights. The goodness of Buffalo and Blue cheese are rife in the buffalo burger and ‘Be my burger’ spoils you for choice. As if the menu itself isn’t vast already, the “Be my burger” segment offers a plethora of patties, cheeses, sauces, veggies, spreads, buns and more for you to tailor make a burger that has all of your favorite things. We hadn’t ever spotted duck bacon on a burger restaurant menu in our city until we ate at Bareburger and for the duck fan amongst us, this was brilliant.

  • Bakla-Wow: Vanilla Ice Cream, Baklava, Caramel Sauce, Whipped Cream and Pistachio.

We loved the creativity in the name of this dessert! As far as the taste goes, we wouldn’t say this is the best or one of the best Baklava we’ve had but we would say that overall this dessert works. A nice end to the meal.

As we mentioned earlier on in this review, the décor was delightful! We would love for Bareburger to start selling those artistic bear heads and pictures because we would be the first few to lap them up. Additionally, we’d like to give our amicable server, Neeraj a huge shout out. He patiently took us through the menu and greatly lessened our confusion with his cool recommendations.

In a nutshell, BareBurger is the perfect destination if you want comparatively healthy yet tasty burgers that will satisfy your burger craving and leave you guilt free (at least for the most part) even on cheat day!
