Restaurant Review:
Zpizza

Al Barsha

We’ve seldom heard anyone utter anything negative about pizza. For most, it’s the ultimate comfort food and with good reason. But wait, we bring our fellow Dubai residents some even better news; there’s a restaurant in town that serves your favorite comfort food with a healthy twist! Originating in Laguna Beach, California, ZPizza brings to Dubai the ‘creativity and craftsmanship’ that thrives in its birthplace, the art colony of Laguna and offers pizzas made from non-GMO wheat flour that is prepared daily, hand-thrown and fire-baked to a crispy treat.
At our recent tasting, here’s everything we had:

  • Parmesan Flat Bread Sticks: Baked Pizza Dough Topped With Garlic Butter & Parmesan Cheese, Served With Housemade Marinara Sauce
  • ZBQ Chicken: BBQ Sauce, Part-Skim Mozzarella, Marinated Chicken Breast, Roasted Peppers, Red Onions, Roma Tomatoes, Corn, Fresh Cilantro.
  • Mexican: Housemade Salsa Mix, Part-Skim Mozzarella, Spicy Lime Chicken Breast, Red Onions, Sliced Avocado, Sour Cream, Green Onions, Cilantro
  • Santa Fe: Chipotle Pesto Sauce, Part-Skim Mozzarella, Chicken Sausage, Red Onions, Corn, Serrano Chilies, Roma Tomatoes, Fresh Cilantro
  • Buffalo Bleu: Housemade Roasted Garlic Sauce, Part-Skim Mozzarella, Gorgonzola, Spiced Chicken Breast, Green Onions
  • Napoli: Housemade Roasted Garlic Sauce, Part-Skim Mozzarella, Roma Tomatoes, Parmesan Cheese, Fresh Basil
  • Double Chocolate Fudge Cake

The pizzas come in different sizes and can be divided into different flavors which is exactly what we did. Our recommendations from the selection above (we don’t eat beef but there are plenty of vegetarian and chicken options to choose from) are the Mexican, Buffalo Bleu (not if you don’t like Blue Cheese), Napoli and the Parmesan bread sticks! We did enjoy the other pizzas too but these tantalized our taste buds the most. Further, we were absolutely guiltless while and after gorging on the pizzas because we knew what we were eating has organic, gluten-free ingredients and healthy bread.
We ended our healthy, yes we shall keep stressing on this, meal with the not so healthy double chocolate fudge cake but I guess all is forgiven when the meal preceding this was healthful. The cake was moist and a nice way to end the meal but not the best we’ve had.
Doesn’t ZPizza sound like the perfect place to spend cheat day at? In fact, with the organic, healthy and tasty offerings at ZPizza, it’s almost like you’re cheating on cheat day and that’s the perfect scenario now, isn’t it?
