Restaurant Review:
The Burger Shop

Al Warqa
Dubai

It seems like (at least to us looking at the spike in burger restaurants we’ve been invited to lately) a lot more burger places have ignited all over Dubai in recent times! One of our recent tastings was at The Burger Shop, a food truck style restaurant situated on the porch of the owner’s sprawling villa that serves as a backdrop for the eatery. On arrival, we were ushered into an elegant lobby and informed that a set menu had been prepared for us. Here is everything we had:

Drinks

  • Rose Shake
  • Vimto Slush
  • Red Tea
Appetizers

  • Jalapeno Bites
  • Tex Mex
  • House Fries
Burgers

  • Classic Chicken Burger: Fried Chicken Breast, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Mayonnaise, House Sauce
  • Buffalo Chicken Burger: Friend Chicken Breast, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickles, Mayonnaise, House Sauce & Buffalo Sauce
  • Mexican Chicken Burger: Friend Chicken, Nachos, Lettuce, Pickles, Guacamole, Jalapeno, Mayonnaise, House Sauce
  • Chicken Hot Dog: Pickles, Mayonnaise, House Sauce & Mustard

We loved the Rose shake and couldn’t stop sipping our way through it even before our food arrived. We aren’t big fans of Vimto, nevertheless the slush is refreshing. The Tex Mex, essentially, Mexican & Southern American style fries piled high with toppings like sour cream, guacamole and more was both a distinctive and appetizing starter. Yes, the Tex Mex was our favorite but we quite enjoyed the house fries and Jalapeno bites too during the breaks we took from stuffing our faces with the former. Now for the burgers, the highlight for us was the little Emojis and recognizable logos from Dubai that were stamped on the burgers! Our burgers had the prominent Emirates logo, cross-eyed face and devil emoji and the novelty of it all really appealed to us. We can really see these burgers becoming favorites of children as well owing to the fun designs they carry on them.  As for the taste, we rank the Mexican burger as our favorite, closely followed by the Classic and then the Buffalo. The plump hot dogs were a nice treat too.

We ended the meal with nice, warm cups of tea and good conversation with the Manager who happens to be a Chef himself! Regrettably, the Lotus Basbousa has been discontinued because of low demand but the Burger Shop plans on introducing the dessert once again in the near future. On the whole, we found the Burger Shop charming, even more so because of their unique, artistic burger styling and we shall definitely be going back for more (especially when the Lotus Basbousa is back on their dessert menu).
