Restaurant Review:
Tea Club

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Blvd, Dubai

A copious lunch followed by afternoon tea on a Friday in Dubai with a view of the Burj Khalifa; sounds like the stuff of dreams doesn’t it? Well it isn’t anymore, because Dubai has its very own Tea Club in the heart of Downtown Dubai! The Tea Club brings together a luxurious afternoon tea experience with casual dining in a plush setting and is finally in Dubai after making waves across the region in Bahrain, Riyadh, Doha, Kuwait and Abu Dhabi!
Prior to the indulgent afternoon tea, we feasted on some lunch. Here’s everything we had:

Drinks

  • Rose Mojito
  • Lemon Mint Juice

The drinks were good accompaniments with the food but the Rose mojito could have been heavier on the Rose!
Appetizers

  • Samurai Fries: A combination of sweet potato fries and golden fries covered up in cheese, samurai sauce, crunchy tempura flakes, crispy sweet onions and chopped jalapeno.
  • Jalapeno Cheese Ball: Five rich stuffed mozzarella cheese and jalapeno balls coated in bread crumbs.

Take our advice and order the Samurai fries! It’s a unique dish that gives you the best of both worlds (we are referring to the types of fries here) and tops it all off with generous amounts of cheese and more! A must have.
  • Buffalo Wrap: Crispy, spicy buffalo chicken with lettuce and ranch sauce with French Fries.
  • Chicken Stack: Delicate Ricotta cheese, slow grilled chicken breast over airy mashed potato on top of a cheese bomb.

The mains were nice but quite heavy, something we realized when the afternoon tea arrived at our table! Before we get to that though, a little more about the mains. The Buffalo wings were delicious and paired with French Fries in an edible bowl. The Chicken Stack was a treat for cheese lovers like one half of Stamps and Stubs but a tad too heavy to get through in one sitting.
Finally, it was time for the elegant afternoon tea! You can choose from a diversity of teas hailing from India, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, England, the Middle East and types such as Herbal, fruity, floral and blends among others! We chose the following:

  • Caramel Frap: Caramel syrup meets tea, milk and ice topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce
  • Warm Hibiscus Flower Tea: It gives a delicious and refreshing, very fresh taste from the natural flower and helps maintain blood pressure

As is characteristic of afternoon tea, the tea tray consisted of a delicious variety of cakes, cookies, macarons, scones, tarts and petite chicken, salmon and vegetable sandwiches.

Absolutely loved the selection! With respect to the tea, the Caramel Frap is a must have; it’s honestly the perfect creamy indulgence and a lovely blend! It was our first time trying Hibiscus Flower tea and we loved it both for its appearance and how good it makes you feel. Paired with the delicacies on the tray, we didn’t want the afternoon to end and stretched tea time as much as we could lounging on the lush couches.
Overall, Tea Club is a charming venue at which to spend a lazy, comfortable Friday afternoon what with sweeping views of the Burj Khalifa, some great items on the menu and an irresistible afternoon tea!
