Event Review:
Taste of Dubai 2016

Like we’ve said before, it’s always eventful in Dubai and our excitement knew no bounds at the return of one of our favorite annual food events, Taste of Dubai. Held between the 10th and 12th of March, 2016, Taste of Dubai is a 3-day food festival or as they say, food-lover’s fantasy, that features top-notch restaurants, superlative celebrity chefs and excellent entertainment.

The concluding event of the Dubai Food Festival, Taste of Dubai is the best place to indulge your taste buds at and gain some great culinary tips from the best in the business. This was our fifth consecutive year at the festival and as always it did not disappoint. We got to try some stunning fare from popular restaurants like Carnival by Tresind, Atisuto, CATCH New York and more. We couldn’t get enough of the food from celebrity chefs Jenny Morris and Reza Mohammed’s exclusive pop-up restaurant, Giggle & Spice which was launched especially for the festival and was a proper treat.

Other than the restaurants there are also a variety of kiosks serving delightful delicacies ranging from savory items like nuts, noodles and soups to sweet delicacies like scones, cakes, chocolates and more. The major highlight of this festival for us though has always been the Kenwood Cookery School where you get to cook a dish under the expert supervision of a celebrity chef. In previous years, we have cooked with Vineet Bhatia, Andy Bates, Siba Mtongana, Jean Christophe Novelli and this year we worked diligently under Michelin starred Chefs Alfred Prasad and Atul Kochhar in two separate sessions at the festival.

We also enjoyed learning tips and tricks from Chefs like Jun Tanaka and Tom Aikens at the Electrolux Chef’s theatre (although I’m pretty sure we won’t be able to recreate anything even resembling their perfect outputs). All in all, Taste of Dubai is a fun haven for foodies and the ideal place to learn, pamper your taste buds and just unwind in Dubai’s balmy March weather!
