Restaurant Review:
Quattro Ristorante

Mankhool
Dubai

Remember a restaurant we had reviewed a couple of months earlier called SpiceKlub, a popular eatery from Mumbai that is making waves in Dubai (here’s the review FYR: http://stampsandstubs.com/spiceklub). Well the same folks behind SpiceKlub have brought another trendy Mumbai bistro to Dubai; Quattro Ristorante serves up Mexican and Italian delicacies and akin to Spiceklub, the food is entirely vegetarian here too! As you enter the restaurant, you are welcomed by cheerful interiors including trees and a fountain. Here is everything we had at our recent tasting:

Drinks

  • Mango Basil Smoothie
  • Mint & Cucumber Virgin Mojito

The drinks were refreshing and the mojito was like drinking candy, thanks to the cotton candy that they dissolve right in front of you! This one brings out those kid in a candy store feels!

Food

  • Risotto Palle: A Combination Of Their Signature Cream Risotto And Cheese, Crumbled And Fried, Served With Chili Oil Pipettes
  • Corn Cakes Avocado Salsa: Grilled Corn Cakes With Sour Cream Foam And Spicy Guacamole
  • Filo Parcels: Spiced Corn And Olives Wrapped In Filo Pastry And Baked Till Crispy
  • Margherita Upside Down: Mozzarella Topped With Tomato Sauce
  • Ravioli Rose: Pasta Sheets Stuffed With Spinach And Ricotta, Served With A Unique Combination Of Italian Plum Tomatoes And Cream Sauce
  • Quesadillas

Quite enjoyed the Risotto Palle for their novelty! Little balls of creamy risotto that you can spice to your liking with the little pipettes injected into them. The filo parcels were delicious too but the corn cakes were more of an acquired taste and didn’t quite appeal to us. With regard to the mains, the Margherita upside down is pretty much just your usual Margherita Pizza and gets points only for being a tad innovative. The ravioli is ricotta and cream galore and we relished this dish completely, nearly resorting to licking the bowl in order not to leave even a single, valuable bite! The final course were the quesadillas which were decent and quite reminiscent of others we’ve had previously.

Dessert

  • Tres Leches: A classic Mexican Cake served in deconstructed foam
  • Hazelnut Mousse, Candied Hazelnut and popcorn, served with Belgian chocolate ice cream

Tres Leches is one of our favorite desserts and as we were being served off a reviewer’s menu, we weren’t aware that we’d be served this one. So you can bet that we were smiling from ear to ear when our servers set this one down in front of us! Soft, tender and milky, this dessert is an absolute winner at Quattro. We must mention that the other dessert we had, the hazelnut mousse, was quite delicious too especially the ice cream that came with it but honestly the Tres Leches set the dessert benchmark way too high for anything else to come close to it (these were our sentiments at least)!

People from Mumbai who are well aware of the popularity and standards of Quattro Mumbai would be better equipped to compare both restaurants but as far as the food and ambiance of the Dubai version go, we’d say it gets a Yay from us.
